FC Winterthur faces three departures after relegation to the Challenge League. The club says goodbye to Pajtim Kasami, Mirlind Kryeziu, and Dario Ulrich. Kasami joined FC Winterthur last September and immediately secured a starting spot, scoring five goals, two of which were in the second-to-last game of the season against GC. Mirlind Kryeziu joined the club last winter, but due to suspensions and an injury, he only played nine games in the second half of the season. Dario Ulrich has been part of the team since the beginning of 2025 and played 52 games for FC Winterthur. However, after a syndesmosis ligament tear, he lost his starting spot in the last season. At the same time as the departures, two positive pieces of news were announced: experienced players Luca Zuffi and Roman Buess will stay with coach Patrick Rahmen in the Challenge League. The season starts for FC Winterthur on the weekend of July 24-27. Before that, the team has a friendly match against Union Berlin. FC Winterthur has already taken some positive steps with the signing of veteran Antonio Marchesano and the return of goalkeeper Markus Kuster. The Eulachstädter go into the season with ambitions and want to achieve promotion back to the Super League. The departure of Kasami, Kryeziu, and Ulrich is a loss for the club, which now needs to find new players to fill the gap. The club's management will have to work hard to find suitable replacements and strengthen the team for the upcoming season. With the experience of Zuffi and Buess, FC Winterthur has a good foundation to build on, but the challenge ahead will be tough.
