FC Winterthur travel to face Neuchâtel Xamax on Friday riding a perfect run of five consecutive victories. Patrick Rahmen's side aims to maintain this positive momentum at the Stade de la Maladière and consolidate their second-place position in the Challenge League.
The circumstances could hardly be better. In the direct clash just five weeks ago, Winterthur secured a clear 4-0 win at the Schützenwiese. That result provides the team with added confidence for the upcoming task. Currently, FCW sits second in the table with 18 points from nine games, just three points behind leaders Stade Lausanne-Ouchy. A goal difference of plus eleven highlights a strong attack and solid defence this season.
Recent results tell a clear story. Following the emphatic win against Xamax came three further league victories against Étoile Carouge, FC Aarau, and most recently a 7-3 friendly win against FC Basel. This run demonstrates current form and squad depth, which you can explore in our squad section.
Opponent's Lineup from Last Meeting
Neuchâtel Xamax will be looking to avenge the clear defeat from September 4th. On that day, the hosts fielded a team including goalkeeper A. Mossi and defenders L. Seydoux and N. Gunnarsson. Winterthur's starting eleven featured goalkeeper M. Kuster, defender F. Rohner, and midfield playmaker L. Zuffi.
Kick-off for this tenth-round match is on Friday, October 9th, at 19:30. Another win would keep the pressure on in the tight Challenge League title race.
